Ballybrown is the northern porition of the parish of Patrickswell and is bounded on the north by the river Shannon, on the west by the maigue, and on the east by Mungret parish.

It is situated about five miles west of Limerick city on the N69, three miles or so north of Adare, and about two miles east of Kildimo. Clarina is the main village area.

For many years the main indusrty in the Ballybrown area was farming. In 1938 the cement factory was established and it provided much needed industrial employment, and continues to do so to this day.
